Botamochi (ぼたもち or 牡丹餅)

We eat Botamochi on Vernal Equinox Day.

Botamochi are a Japanese sweet made with glutinous rice,

rice  and sweet Azuki paste .

A very similar sweet,

ohagi (おはぎ), uses a slightly different texture of azuki paste,

but is otherwise almost identical. It is made in autumn.

The two different names are derived from the Botan

which blooms in the spring and the Hagi which blooms during autumn.

by Wikipedia

Azuki is a good oriental medicinal ingredient for swelling.
